A student at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas, Zoe Reardon earned a merit-based scholarship to attend the university through the Second Century Scholars program. A member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and a peer academic leader, Zoe Reardon is studying business and world languages.
A private Methodist research university, SMU recently received a generous gift that will allow the institution to enhance its digital educational experience. Thanks to a $15 million lead gift from The Gerald J. Ford Family Foundation and SMU trustees Gerald J. Ford and his wife, Kelli O. Ford, SMU built a 50,000-square-foot interdisciplinary research hub called the Gerald J. Ford Hall for Research and Innovation. Designed as a space for faculty, students, and industry partners to collaborate on innovative ideas and explore complex problems, the Ford Hall will pioneer new developments in data-driven education with its high-performance computing system. In addition to serving as an educational tool and resources, the Ford Hall also will help SMU attract additional faculty research funding from external sources, said SMU President R. Gerald Turner.
